Makking Headlines II: Gocchin…graduates? What the hell?

Okay. So. I am seriously one of the last people to ever cover anything in the blogosphere, because I’m shit lazy, and I’ve got all these drafts to finish and homework to do, but I’m taking some valuable time to say…

What the fuck?

Kaorin too?!

And the amount of knocked-up H!P members just grows and grows! Ayappe, Sayaka, Heike Michiyo, Tsuji…and now Iida! I woke up this morning on and on my early morning Internet check I discovered this little tidbit of news from Hello!Online. But I had school and therefore had to refrain from falling over in shock until now. Should we call her Knocked-Up Kaorin? I don’t know, it doesn’t have the same ring as Knocked-Up Nono.

Kaorin has released her official statement, but it’s not known yet if she’s coming back to H!P or music at all after this. I think she might, especially because of the 10 anniversary unit now…which reminds me, what are they going to do about that? I think they’re going to go the Tsuji route, but who’s going to replace her? I mean, isn’t the point of the 10th anniversary unit to show how the group was at its start? I’d love to see them toss Yuko and Kei in there, but they’re too old now, right? Because it’s supposed to have members representing the original five, from 13 - 24. Then again, that idea is kinda shot since I think Koharu’s 14 now and I know Kaorin’s 25. I would LOVE to see some more of Yuko or Kei-chan. They need more exposure, dammit.

I am going to cruelly and shamelessly yank this screencap from Cult of Pop to illustrate “Morning Granddaughters”…damn, haven’t the H!P girls ever heard of birth control? Condoms? Anything? I mean, I’m very excited for Kaorin and all but…God. And we thought Gocchin was the horny one. I can understand if they were married and were planning to have kids…but man. I guess it must be hard to keep your, er, needs under control if you’re in such an occupation, but come on, Iida, you’re 25 years old. Don’t say you don’t know what a condom is.

Dearly beloved, we gather here to say our goodbyes…

It has been announced that Morning Musume leader Fujimoto Miki has resigned from Morning Musume, in a nearly-identical repeat of the Yaguchi Mari incident. Of course, unlike Mari, Mikitty will remain active in H!P with GAM.

You know, I was never a real big fan of Mikitty. But this saddens me a little, because she was a whole lot of fun in Morning Musume, and well, now that she’s gone, she’s probably taken a good chunk of fanbase with her.

This also reduces my “Aruiteru” curse idea to shit, but it was a nice try, huh? XD

I doubt Mikitty really wanted to leave, but with the multitude of scandals in UFA’s face right now (Aibon is still associated with H!P in the eyes of many fans, so this whole ‘Kago YES Nude’ thing she might be doing will probably hit them pretty hard as well, even if she’s no longer signed with them) she probably felt it was best. I also doubt that she resigned “distinctly as herself.” There was probably some pressure involved, but I don’t think she was planning on staying anyway. It’d be a stupid expectation, not to mention that Up-Front could probably get accused for favoritism if they let Mikitty stay without repercussion but punished Mari.

Okay, so Mari “quit”, but again, no one in the idol world makes decisions “distinctly as themselves.” There’s pressure from the company involved, as well as just what is going on with their careers.

I’m curious to see if she will get her solo career back. Many fans have been calling for it, practically ever since she was tossed into Morning Musume. Now that Morning Musume is out of the way, will UFA give it back to her, or have they decided that it really is a dead idea?

This thing isn’t just about Miki, either. Now that she’s gone, Aichan and Gaki have become the leader and the sub-leader of Momusu, respectively. When Yossie first graduated, many commented that it was a good thing that Mikitty was sub-leader, because Aichan didn’t have the “leader” qualities. The girls once mentioned that the feel of the group changes with every leader - the “Nakazawa era” was their most successful, and there was a feel of aggressiveness, of rivalry. The “Kaorin” era was the longest and probably the most stable, but over the years, the success really dwindled. Morning Musume had a passive feel, and so did Tsunku - he seemed to the have the idea that he’ll just churn out songs and if they’re hits, that’s great, if not, oh well. There really was no “Mari” era, just like now there is really no “Miki” era. And the “Yossie” era was mentioned as being very focused on sports, though they honestly still had the Kaorin-passive feel to them. So now we have Takitty as the leader. We’ve come to expect no surprises from her. I hope that she’ll break out and do something fun, but even now - maybe especially now - she still wants to play the good role model and doesn’t want to do anything crazy. Which isn’t really the right mentality to have in this particular group, because Morning Musume (as proved amply over the years) is all about the crazy. The crazier you are, in fact, the more popular you are likely to be.

So now that there is no Miki anymore, Morning Musume has gone from it’s “Asia” 10nin lineup (something I would’ve liked to see, because the 10nins are always the most compared lineups) to the “Asia” 9nin lineup. Will Morning Musume have any hold over the Japanese public now? Hopefully this expansion into the rest of Asia will help, because now that Mikitty’s gone, the only other leads left are Aichan and Reina, and Gaki to a lesser extent - and the only wota left will be the Aichan and Reina ones. Maybe Gaki will receive a greater push in Morning Musume - even greater than the one she’s got right now - or maybe they’ll give another girl the spotlight.

This is a sad thing, but hopefully it’ll turn out for the better. D: Good luck to Mikitty in her post-Musume career, and good luck to Aichan and Gaki in their new positions!

Mikitty can run, but she can’t hide…

Do the scandals never stop? UFA says yes, but Friday (the magazine infamous for reporting scandals pertaining to our beloved idols) says no! Because according to them, Fujimoto Miki (and no, I will never decide on one way of ordering Japanese names) just spent three nights with a dude named Shouji Tomoharu. Yeah, I don’t know who he is, but he’s of the male gender so…um, yeah. Mikitty, have you been living under a rock? Read more »

Nono’s “happy summer wedding”?

19.jpg

Okay, so no one really knows if it’s going to be in the summer or not. But Morning Musume doesn’t have a “Happy Insert-Season-Here Wedding” song, so I had to make do. And they’re getting it registered in the summer, so it’s kind of right…whatever. Shut up. Read more »

Sugiura Nozomi?

Well, it’s been confirmed that Tsuji is getting married. Nothing on her pregnancy, though quite a few blogs and other sources are saying that the pregnancy too has been confirmed. UFA seems to be handling it pretty well, from what I’ve been reading. Nothing about a terminated contract. Tsuji is, however, withdrawing from her idol activities. Gyaruru will probably release that first single (assuming it’s done) and then lay low until Tsuji has her baby and the marriage is done and everything’s settled down…

Maybe it’s because she’s not dating the guy, she’s marrying him. She managed to keep their relationship under wraps for a while, they seem to have been going out for about two years…and well, after that, they’re going to get married. I don’t know if the company just likes Nono or what, but maybe they see it as more of a…I don’t really know how to put it. They seem to not like the girls dating guys (or at least being seen with them in public) but getting married seems to be just fine with them.

I can see why they would take her getting married better than her having a boyfriend. Boyfriends, too temporary and too damaging to the career for something that rarely lasts long once their relationship is out. Marriage is more serious. Then again, only a handful of famous marriages actually lasted. We’ll just have to wait and see…I hope Nono knows what she’s doing and her Bakajo days are behind her.

I don’t think her contract is going to be terminated. UFA would’ve said so already. So, I’m kinda excited about this. If this whole thing goes the way it seems to be going from here (though it rarely does) this will be the first kid born to an H!P idol that hasn’t left the business.

Tsuji vs. Kago: Who can shock us more?

Well. It seems that perhaps that spark of rivalry reminiscent of Morning Musumes past still exists: in the form of Tsuji and Kago trying to one up each other in the name of the “Scandal Musume.”

Kago, for those of you that have been living under a rock, recently got fired from H!P for smoking underage and then getting a 38-year-old boyfriend. But rumor has it that Tsuji has just outdone her by getting pregnant and planning a marriage with the supposed father - 26-year-old actor Sugiura Taiyo. Read more »
