Holy Shit! Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is retiring after all! That means all the veiled threats and knuckle baring and ring circling between the two parties is going to get even nastier now that they know exactly what's at stake (i.e., a swing justice's position). This blog isn't going to turn politically-oriented, though I'm having an increasing appreciation for political grand guignol. But if you want the nation's most vicious soap opera, follow the Supreme Court nomination process for O'Connor's replacement.
