I mean I have this friend Tara. She’s not really a NEWS fan…at all. But for two years she has learned SO MUCH from me about H!P and NEWS.
I talk and talk to her about NEWS recently.
And she calls Ryo “Angry butt-chin man” and Massu “Muffin head” (in regards to the shape of his head because of his hair)
SHE LOVES TEGOSHI’S PRETTY VOICE THOUGH GUYS.
and I find her comments are lol and I don’t get mad at all.
Anyways, this is a track-by-track review of NEWS’ new album, Color

01. Weeeek
It’s a single so I won’t dig too far with this one. Anyways. I’ve always loved this song. It’s so catchy and fun, with a good beat and its just…addicting. I’m most definitely screencapping this one soon. The song itself is possibly one of the best songs by NEWS. Ryo actually sounds good in it! Thats a feat.

02. STARDUST
When I heard the intro, I thought it sounded like Buono! In fact, the entire song, I think Buono! could pull it off. Its got the pop-rockish feel and all the guys sound absolutely great! I think the arrangement seemed a bit messy though? Almost like too much was going on at once. When they say STARDUST I keep thinking that they’re saying STAND UP. I think this song (like most of the songs on this album, as you’ll be able to tell) is way too good to be an album track. It sounds like … just like buono! songs.. an ending for an anime.

03. SUMMER TIME
Another single. I won’t go into details at all because I’ve already reviewed it here. It’s a feel-good summer song and even though its one of my favorite songs, I feel sad listening to it because I hate being lied to by NEWS. DON’T YOU SEE THE SNOW??

04. Snow Express
This was the second song I heard by NEWS, if you count Hoshi wo Mezashite but at that point I was like “WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS. KAT-TUN SUCKS -turn off-” and that was agesss ago, I think around the time it actually came out. Anyways, I loved SNOW EXPRESS. I was overwhelmed by the rapping and all, but that was back then. Now I always anticipate the rap because its my favorite part of the song. Anyways. I have SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS SONG I DON’T KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS IT. They all have one solo line. They all sound amazing except Ryo, who sounds like he’s straining himself too much. Massu sounds great (as always) and his voice was a great intro to the song. I really liked Tegoshi and Shige’s solo lines. This song has a really catchy beat and it just flows so well. It’s my favorite NEWS song ever released. Ever. FUCK YEAH THE RAP.

05. Forever
HOLY CRAP. I honestly can’t get over this song. It should have been a single, it really should have. Its got all the elements of a good song! First, and most important, they actually made their english flow! There’s another rap. I love the raps. I love them. Massu sounds absolutely amazing in this song. It was like it was made for his voice. Seriously, I rank this song just the tiniest notch below SNOW EXPRESS. I can’t really express my liking for this song in words. They all sound good, the song itself is really good. I wish this was a single and not wasted on an album.
10 out of freaking 10.
06. MOLA AKA Sexy Song
I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS SONG LOL. At first I was like “LOLJUSTINTIMBERLAKE” and then I actually gave the song a listen and my initial reaction was “Did he just say booties?”
Most of this song is …. crack, really. He keeps saying “Lets make love in this club all through the night” and I’m like… Yeah, I’m sure if you did that, you wouldn’t be allowed back in said club. They’re getting deeper and deeper while making love in the club.
In any case, I actually enjoy this song. I look kinda delirious when I listen to it at school. I always have to fight not to laugh. I think that Yamapi’s english prononciation is just adorable, and he sorta sounds like a little kid. He reminds me of my little brother singing along with my sisters “gangsta beats”. While this song is much like something you’d find over here, its by YAMAPI. You can’t really understand wtf he’s saying unless you read the lyrics, so :/ But in any case… I really enjoy listening to this song.

07. Kesenai
I really like Tegoshi’s voice, but I found this song kinda boring. However, I really did enjoy the chorus. I found, in comparison to Ai Nante from the pacific album, this really was a dissappointment. If I wasn’t comparing it though, I guess I would like it much better. Like I said before, the chorus is the best part of the song and I listen to the song all the way through just because I enjoy listening to that part. Its a good song as a whole.

08. Ordinary
I think this is the worst song on the album and the only weak link. I really don’t like Ryo’s voice. I like his personality and the fanbase he brings, so he shouldn’t leave NEWS. He should just stop singing. I think the song in itself isn’t that good. He wrote it, didn’t he? I feel bad for saying its bad, but I really do think so.
Ryo, you should just stick to acting.

10. MURARISUTO
I can`t find a translation of this song, but a bunch of people are saying its so pervy.
It sounds pervy.
This song is total crack. Koya and Shige should make a sub group dedicated to singing about absolutely nothing. I have to say this song is amazing. At first I was like WTF it sounds like they’re trying to be a Morning Musume album track but then I was amazed by how amazing their goofiness is. It really is a song that makes you laugh. I think Shige and Koyama are the funniest guys in NEWS. I love them <3

11. Taiyou no Namida
Another single. This is like, my favorite NEWS single. I’m definitely screencapping and reviewing later, so there’s not much point of saying it here. Anyways. There’s only one problem with this song: Lack of Massu. But Koyama and Shige’s voices … and Yamapi’s incredibly hot presence make up for that.

12. Smile Maker
This song isn’t bad, but I don’t know how much I like it yet. I like the opening, and when the group starts singing it just sounds.. I don’t know, awkward? The song futher in is pretty catchy. Its just that… the one thing I like about NEWS is that their album tracks sound really good, like they should be singles, but this one sounded like an album track to me.

13. Happy Birthday
Another single. I reviewed it WAY BACK WHEN. Back in the day! I didn’t even know all of their names. Which is kinda embarassing considering that was a month and a half ago. Anyways, you can find my review here. My opinion on it still hasn’t changed. Its an amazing, catchy song <3

14. FLY AGAIN

Anyways. Because I don’t care about the extra track on the RE, this is the closing song. It’s really nice. This one could have also been a single. Its so pretty. I love the opening, and all the guys sound great. I don’t think I can listen to the song and be sad. I have no idea about the lyrics, but it sounds very uplifting. I think it could be uplifting, the title is FLY AGAIN so :/ anyways, this is another one of my favorite NEWS songs ever. Its just so nice <3

Overall thoughts
Some may think I was rating a bit too easy, and I guess I could agree.
I listen to this album and think, “wow, this really is a consistent album”. All the tracks are good! I don’t know what it is… just a higher budget? But when I listen to H!P albums.. I guiltly think the only good tracks are the singles, but in this album, I liked a lot of the tracks better than the singles. I think this is possibly the best album I’ve ever heard.

but for being such a good album as a whole, as it works so well together, it certainly deserves a 10/10

NEWS- Summer Time review!
Song: 10/10. Maybe I’m biased? But I think this song is really cute and is put together really well. The vocals are great, the sound is so nice, and its just really…it has a really nice feel-good sound to it.
My favorite part of the song has to be the rapping. Usually, I’m like…eh, shut up at the rapping, take for example Don’t Don by Super Junior. However, Shige and Koyama do a great job and it doesnt sound random at all; it actually suits the song.
The video: 10/10. You don’t see this kinda stuff with H!P. It has a few little storylines going on, but theres little substance and its made for the fun! I’ve never laughed or smiled so much at any video before. The only downside is that its giving me unreal expectations for men. I want them all to be as cute as NEWS is here!
I think my favorite story line is Massu and the hole shirt. The facial expressions he makes are priceless. He looks like such a little boy.
But no this definitely does NOT mean I’ll be getting into Hey! Say jump.

My other favorite is Tegoshi, and Koyama’s blender. Tegoshi checking out a blender is pretty cute. Koyama spiking it is just funny.
Also, I think I’m becoming a closet fan of Tegoshi. When I decided I liked Yamapi, I was like, FUCK, who should I hate?
So I chose tegoshi cause he’s annoying. But like, I’m like “Oh Tegoshi, you’re so cute. Wait. STFU MISA” and I make Tara laugh.
She’s a Tegoshi fan too yknow. Its like a curse.
I think Shige looks totally hot in this music video. If you disagree, stfu. (=
